Adelphi Scholarships and Grants

Adelphi University Trustee Scholarship
Trustee Scholarships are generally awarded to a limited number of entering full-time freshmen with the most outstanding academic achievement and cocurricular activities. Trustee scholars have a minimum SAT of 2020 and rank in the top 10% of their high school class. .
    Application Process: A student must first file an admissions application and then complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility.

    Range of Awards: $16,500 - $24,000 depending upon the individual's academic profile.

    Special Provisions:

    Notification: Eligible students will receive a letter of notification from the Scholarship Committee. After filing the FAFSA, a financial assistance award summary detailing all financial aid will be mailed to the student.

Adelphi University Presidential Scholarship
Presidential Scholarships are awarded to entering full-time freshmen with exceptional academic achievement and co curricular activities. Presidential scholars typically have a minimum SAT of 1950 and rank in the top 10% of their high school class.
    Application Process: A student must first file an admissions application and then complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility.

    Range of Awards: $15,000 -$16,000 depending upon the individual's academic profile.

    Special Provisions:

Adelphi University Provost Scholarship
Provost Scholarships are awarded to entering full-time freshman and transfer students with excellent academic performance and co curricular activities. In general, Provost scholars have a minimum SAT of 1800 and rank in the top 15% of their high school class or have a minimum transfer GPA of 3.5.
    Application Process: A student must first file an admissions application and then complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility.

    Range of Awards for Freshmen: $12,000 - $14,500.

    Range of Awards for Transfers: $7,500 - $11,000.

    Notification: Eligible students will receive a letter of notification from the Scholarship Committee. After filing the FAFSA, a financial assistance award summary detailing all financial aid will be mailed to the student.

Adelphi University Dean's Award
Deans Awards are awarded to entering full-time freshmen with very good academic performances. Ordinarily, recipients have minimum SAT scores ranging from 1580 to 1790 and rank in the top 25% of their high school class.
    Application Process: A student must first file an admissions application and then complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility.

    Range of Awards: $8,000 - $11,500 depending upon the individual's academic profile.

    Special Provisions:
    - Adelphi University Dean's Award Terms and Conditions.

    Notification: Eligible students will receive a letter of notification from the Scholarship Committee. After filing the FAFSA, a financial assistance award summary detailing all financial aid will be mailed to the student.

Eagle Scout, Girl Scout Gold, and Explorer Awards
These awards are offered to new, full-time students who demonstrate high academic achievement. The student may receive an academic award (Dean's, Provost, Presidential, or Trustee) and in addition be recognized for his/her achievement in Scouting.
    Application Process: The applicant must be an Eagle Scout, Girl Scout Gold Award recipient or an Explorer Scout and must have completed and submitted proof of receipt of the award to the Office of Admissions. A student must first file an admissions application and then complete and file FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility.

    Range of Awards: This award can range from $500 to $2,000 in addition to an academic award.

    Special Provisions:
    - Eagle Scout, Girl Scout and Explorer Award Terms and Conditions
      Please note that the Explorer award follows the same Terms and
      Conditions as the regular scouting awards.

Adelphi University Nassau Community College Award
The Adelphi University Nassau Community College Award is offered to new, full-time students who demonstrate high academic achievement and have obtained an AA or AS degree from Nassau Community College. An initial criterion includes a transfer G.P.A. of at least 3.0.  To be eligible for this award, students must enroll at Adelphi following their graduation from Nassau Community College.   Students who enroll elsewhere, and then wish to transfer to Adelphi will not be eligible for this award.   Please note that some highly selective majors are excluded from this award.
    Application Process: A student must first file an admissions application and then complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility.

    Range of Awards: This award can range up to $1,000 and may be combined with other awards.

The Adelphi University Transfer Merit Award for part-time students is offered to new, part-time students who demonstrate high academic achievement. For transfers, initial criteria includes a transfer G.P.A. of at least 3.3, with a minimum of 30 credits being transferred
    Application Process: A student must first file an admissions application and then complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility.

    Range of Awards: This award can range from $1,000 to $3,500 depending upon the individual's academic profile.

Adelphi University Phi Theta Kappa Select Award
The Adelphi University Select Phi Theta Kappa Award for full-time students is offered to new, full-time transfer students who demonstrate high academic achievement and a commitment to service in the community. For new transfers, an initial criterion includes a transfer G.P.A. of at least 3.3 and proof of Phi Theta Kappa membership.

Application Process: A student must first file an admissions application and a separate Phi Theta Kappa Select application is required. Proof of Phi Theta Kappa membership must be attached with the application. Click here (PDF 86KB) to apply.

Application Deadline: January 1st for spring applicants, and August 1st for fall applicants

Range of Awards: This Select Phi Theta Kappa award is $2,500 and a limited amount of awards will be awarded to new, full-time transfer students. This award cannot be combined with other Phi Theta Kappa scholarship awards.

Adelphi University Tau Sigma Award
The Adelphi University Tau Sigma Award for full-time students is offered to current, full-time transfer students who have been a member of Tau Sigma for a minimum of one semester. These individuals must demonstrate continued high academic achievement and a commitment to service in the community and Tau Sigma. Initial criterion includes an Adelphi University G.P.A. of at least 3.5 and proof of Tau Sigma membership.
Application Process:A student must complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility. A student must also complete the Tau Sigma Scholarship Award application and proof of Tau Sigma membership must be attached with the application. Click here (PDF 17KB) to apply.

Application Deadline:January 1st for spring applicants, and August 1st for fall applicants.

Range of Awards: $500 each semester will be awarded to five (5) current, full-time transfer students, who are members of Tau Sigma. This award is a one-time award.

Adelphi University Academic Talent Combination Awards
For students whose profiles meet the requirements for an academic award and a talent award click on the link below to view the Terms and Conditions for the following combination scholarships: Trustee Talent, Presidential Talent, Provost Talent, Deans Talent and Transfer Talent.
Application Process:A student must first file an admissions application.  Students should then complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility.

Range of Awards:Awards are based upon the individual's audition or portfolio review and academic record.  Both academics and talent are carefully considered in determining the combined awards.

The Adelphi University Talent Scholarships are offered to full-time students who demonstrate exceptional talent in the areas of theater, dance, art, or music. Students must declare a major and will be required to initially submit a portfolio or audition in their area of concentration.
    Application Process: A student must first file an admissions application and then complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility.

    Range of Awards: $4,000 - $9,500 based upon the individual's performance or portfolio review.

Recognition Awards are offered to new, full-time students who demonstrate exemplary leadership skills and/or exceptional commitment to community service.

    Range of Awards:These awards vary depending upon type and length of service.

Adelphi University Athletic Grants
Adelphi University Athletic Grants are offered to full-time students who demonstrate exceptional ability in the area of athletics. The student's athletic performance/record is the initial criterion for consideration of this award.
    Application Process: A student must first file an admissions application and then complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility.

    Range of Awards: Up to full tuition, fees, room, and board.

    Special Provisions: Students must submit a financial aid application each year and must meet the following minimum standards: (1) continued enrollment in full-time study (minimum 12 credits) leading to a bachelor's degree; (2) continued participation in University athletic teams; (3) cumulative grade-point average of 2.0; and (4) the student is not subject to any disciplinary action.

    Notification: Eligible students will receive an Athletic Award letter in addition to a copy of their athletic contract and the financial assistance award summary.

Adelphi University Financial Grant
he Adelphi University Financial Grant is offered to full-time undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need. This grant does not have to be repaid to the University.

    Application Process: Students are automatically considered for a Financial Grant upon Adelphi's receipt of the processed FAFSA. To ensure maximum eligibility, all applications should be submitted as soon as possible after January 1, but not later than February 15.

    Range of Awards: The University will offer Financial Grant awards based upon individual financial circumstances.

    Special Provisions: Students must submit a FAFSA each year and must meet the following minimum standards: (1) the student must file the FAFSA each year by the University’s recommended filing date; (2) continued enrollment in full-time study (minimum 12 credits) leading to a bachelor’s degree; (3) semester grade-point average of 2.0; (4) the student is not subject to any disciplinary action.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Scholarships
FIRST scholarships are awarded to one full-time incoming freshman who has participated in the FIRST  FRC or FTC programs or has been a mentor for an FLL team during his/her high school career. Click here to apply.
Application Process: A student is encouraged to first file an admissions application and then complete and file the FIRST Scholarship Application form no later than January 1 to ensure maximum eligibility. An essay and letter of recommendation must also accompany the completed scholarship application form.

Special Provisions: Students are encouraged to submit a FAFSA each year and must meet the following minimum standards: (1) acceptance into and continued enrollment in full-time study (minimum 12 credits) leading to a bachelor's degree; and (2) the student must have currently participated in a qualified FIRST program; and (3) the student must maintain a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average for renewal; and (4) the student is not subject to any disciplinary action.

Notification: Eligible students will receive a letter of notification from the Scholarship Committee. After filing the FAFSA, a financial assistance award summary detailing all financial aid will be mailed to the student.

University College Grant
The University College Grant is offered to students who demonstrate financial need as determined after filing your FAFSA.

    Application Process: You are considered automatically for a University College Grant upon Adelphi's receipt of your processed FAFSA. To ensure maximum eligibility, all applications should be submitted as soon as possible after January 1, but not later than February 15.

    Range of Awards: The University will offer University College Grants based upon individual financial circumstances.

Alumni Award
Children or grandchildren of Adelphi alumni are eligible to receive an award up to $1,000. Be sure to indicate on your application if a parent or grandparent graduated from Adelphi University in order to receive the award.
    Application Process:You will be automatically considered upon receipt of your complete admissions application listing a parent or grandparent who has graduated from Adelphi. Students should also complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility.

    Special Provisions:

Restricted Awards (Donor Awards)
These awards are offered to full- and part-time students, on a competitive basis, whose individual profiles coincide with specific donor requirements. Restricted awards are not automatically renewable.
    Application Process: A completed FAFSA should be mailed as soon as possible after January 1, but no later than February 15 to ensure maximum eligibility. There is no separate application required.

    Range of Awards: The University will offer restricted grants and scholarships based upon individual circumstances, donor restrictions, and availability of funds.

    Special Provisions: Eligibility requirements vary with specific donor restrictions.

Scholastic Art & Writing Scholarship
Scholastic Art & Writing Scholarships are granted to full-time incoming freshmen who have been identified by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, Inc. as a recipient of a national Gold or Silver Award in the category of either Art Portfolio, Photography Portfolio or of General Writing Portfolio or Nonfiction Portfolio.
    Application Process: A student is encouraged first to file an admissions application and then complete and file The Scholastic Art & Writing Scholarship Application Form no later than March 1 to ensure maximum eligibility.

    Range of Awards: This scholarship is $1,000 in each of the three categories for Art and Writing, renewable for four years.  

    Special Provisions: Students are encouraged to submit a FAFSA each year and must meet the following minimum standards: (1) acceptance into and continued enrollment in full-time study (minimum 12 credits) leading to a bachelor's degree; and (2) the student must be a current recipient of a Scholastic Gold or Silver Portfolio award and whose name will appear on a listing from the scholarship provider to Adelphi University in March or April; (3)for the Art award students must have a successful art portfolio and must be admitted to Adelphi’s Art Department (in addition to being admitted to the University) and must declare Art as a major and (4) the student must maintain a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average for renewal; and (5) the student is not subject to any disciplinary action.

    Notification: Eligible students will receive a letter of notification from the Scholarship Committee. After filing the FAFSA , a financial assistance award summary detailing all financial aid will be mailed to the student.
