Adelphi recognizes the importance of academic support to help you reach your goals. It is especially important in the first year when you transition to college life and are faced with many options. Adelphi offers a range of services to help you now and throughout your academic experience. They include:

Academic Services and Retention
The Office of Academic Services and Retention coordinates Freshman Registration and monitors each student's academic program. The Office oversees all student initiated academic transactions including faculty advising, petitions for leave of absence, and withdrawals from courses or the University.

Faculty Advising
You will be assigned a faculty adviser who will help you determine the course of study that meets the program requirements and helps you to achieve your career goals. The faculty adviser will meet with you regularly to review your progress.

B.R.I.D.G.E. Faculty Associates
B.R.I.D.G.E.Beyond Routine Instruction; Delivering Greater Educationis a new program designed to expedite faculty involvement with freshmen resident students. Faculty members will join students in on-campus activities and in informal sessions over lunch and dinner.

Information Technology and Resources
The Office of Information Technology and Resources (OITR) can assist you with computer and technology-related issues. OITR supports the computer labs and wireless locations throughout campus. It also sets up your email, Blackboard and C.L.A.S.S. accounts and your wireless authorization.

Internships and Career Counseling
The Center for Career Development posts current internships and jobs, including on-campus opportunities. The Center also provides individual counseling to students on career-related issues and offers self-assessment tests. You may want to take advantage of these service and explore different areas before you declare your major.

Learning Center
A resource for students in need of individual and small group tutoring, the Learning Center also holds workshops covering studying tips, time management, and exam preparation. Non-native speakers of English can improve their language skills in the weekly American English conversation groups.

Learning Disabilities Program
Students with learning disabilities and/or AD/HD are given the necessary support to achieve their academic goals in the mainstream of university life. Through a low student/staff ratio, experienced professionals offer intensive academic assistance and personalized attention.

Libraries
An integral part of academic life, Swirbul and the University libraries support student study and research. The staff can assist you in gathering information from both traditional and online sources.

Writing Center
Writers of all levels can use the Writing Center to improve their writing ability. Tutors will assist students in organizing their material, developing concepts, and producing grammatically correct writing assignments, reports, essays, and letters. Tutoring sessions last for 45 minutes.
