Adelphi University is committed to enriching your academic experience, beginning with a smooth transition to college life. To introduce you to Adelphi and to help make your first year more rewarding, Adelphi created F.I.R.S.T.Freshman Initiative to Realize a Successful Transition. This program consists of classes, workshops and activities, supplemented by peer and academic support. Even before you arrive on campus, you can communicate with current and new students on the First Year Student Message Board.
Developed by a team of educators and education professionals, F.I.R.S.T. combines the extensive resources of the University to help you, and your parents, make this critical transition and to make you aware of the many opportunities that Adelphi offers to resident and commuter students.
You'll live in a residence hall for a three-day Orientation program where you'll meet with academic advisers, register for classes, and explore the campus.
To help integrate your first-year experience, Adelphi has created Learning Communities which include:
- FOrEFirst Year Orientation Experience
- First Year Seminar
- First Year Reading Experience
More information on F.I.R.S.T. is available in the student handbooks, Academic Adelphi: Your First Year and the New Student Guidebook.
